Shamrock Club Person of the year - Mike Trulley
The Shamrock Club of Green Bay and Northeast Wisconsin is privileged to present its 2009 Irish Person of the Year Award to Michael Trulley for your past guidance and leadership, your enthusiastic support of the Shamrock Club and the proliferation of the Irish Heritage, Culture and Legacy that we all hold so dear. With those well-chosen words from the award, Mick Gleason presented Mick Trulley with the club’s prestigious Irish Person of the Year Award at the Shamrock Club Christmas Party on December 14, 2009. Mike has been a club member since 2004.
His bloodline to Ireland comes through his grandmother, whose name was Alta Kelly, and she had many siblings. Her mother’s maiden name was Wolfe and she was born in Harper's Ferry, WV, while her mother, his great-great-grandmother was walking from there to Indiana to escape the problems of the Civil War and to meet her husband, who deserted from the confederate army. Grandmother Wolfe married Daniel Kelly and that is where the Irish roots started. The ancestry has not been traced back to Ireland, and as they say, Kelly's are as common as blades of grass in Ireland.
